אבא עסק בייצור חביות ואבוסים לבקר. בפולנית נקרא מקצוע החבתן – בדנש ובאידיש בודנר.
אבא היה מייבא עץ מהרי הקרפטים מייצר ממנו מוצרים ומוכרם בחנות לדברי עץ שהייתה בצריף עץ במרכז העיר, הצריף נהרס לאחר מכן ובמקמו הוקם מרכז חדש מלבנים.

The Cooper

My father used to make wooden barrels and feeders for cattle. In polish a cooper was called “Bednarz”, and in Yiddish it was called   

 “בודנר”. Father would import wood from the Carpathian Mountains, make things out of it and then sell them at a woodworks store that was in a wooden shed in the center of town. Later the shed was destroyed and a new brick building was put up instead of it.
